GETTING STARTED / API KEYS

Start with your own API key.

Use an API key issued by the provider of the model you want to try. Do not enter your account password.

Choose your API key provider

Each provider requires its own key. A Google key cannot be used for GPT, Claude, Mistral, Solar, or Jev.

After creating your key

  1. Check billing settings and model access in the provider’s console.
  2. Enter the key in that provider’s playground.
  3. Edit an example and run it. API usage costs are billed to your provider account.

How are API keys handled?

Your key travels from your browser through AI API Lab’s HTTPS proxy to the selected provider’s API. Keys are not recorded in server storage, environment variables, logs, or analytics.

Keys stay in browser memory by default and disappear on reload. Only “Remember API key on this device” saves them in this browser. Avoid remembering keys on shared devices; use “Delete key” in the playground to remove saved keys.

Each provider’s policies apply to the requests it processes.
